I envision a Forest Lake where businesses flourish, families thrive, and our city continues to grow responsibly. Together, we can create a future that builds on our strengths and meets the needs of every resident.
About Blake Roberts
As a lifelong resident of Forest Lake, I am deeply committed to our community. For the past 27 years, I have run three small businesses, giving me valuable insights into the needs of local businesses and families. My wife, ShaVaughan, and I are proud parents of three daughters, all of whom have attended Forest Lake Area Schools, deepening our connection to this community.
My dedication to Forest Lake extends beyond business. I have served on the Forest Lake City Council for the past year and a half, and for 12 years before that, I was a member of the city's Economic Development Authority. I am an active member of the Forest Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club, and I have served as president of the Forest Lake Rotary Club and the Forest Lake Lake Association.
With this extensive experience in both business and community service, I believe I am uniquely qualified to serve as your next mayor. I am eager to bring my experience, dedication, and passion for Forest Lake to this role, ensuring that our city continues to thrive and grow.
*Key Issues & Solutions:
* Business-Friendly Environment: Streamlining regulations and reducing red tape to make it easier for local businesses to start, grow, and succeed. I’ll work to attract new investments and support entrepreneurs with incentives and resources.
* Economic Development: Fostering a thriving business community in partnership with Washington County Community Development Agency to promote local startups, supporting job creation, and developing strategic partnerships with local and regional businesses.
* Community Development: Ensuring that the city is actively working to create development and redevelopment opportunities, attracting and retaining small and large businesses, and taking advantage of all the potential that our downtown offers.
* Affordable Housing: Ensuring a range of housing options so that our workforce can live close to where they work, reducing commute times and supporting a balanced economy.
* Reasonable & Responsible Finances: Working hard to balance the needs of our city, while being mindful of the impact on the commercial and residential property taxes.
* Infrastructure: Continuing to invest in our roads, water supply, and sewer system.
* Public Safety: Continue to support our community's police, fire, and emergency services to create a safe environment where businesses and residents can thrive.
* Transportation: Enhancing public transportation and developing efficient traffic solutions to improve accessibility for both residents and businesses.
* Parks and Recreation: Expanding recreational facilities and green spaces to enhance quality of life and attract businesses looking for a vibrant, healthy community.
* Community Engagement: I am committed to being a mayor who listens and acts on your needs. Your feedback and ideas are essential in shaping our city’s future, and I promise transparency and accountability in all my actions.
